These grades consist of unalloyed titanium. They are
categorized by their oxygen and iron content, which determines their strength and
ductility.
Titanium Grades & Technical Specifications
- Grade 1: The most ductile and softest grade. Ideal for deep drawing and explosive
cladding
- Grade 2: The "workhorse" of the industrial industry. Balanced strength and corrosion
resistance
- Grade 4: The strongest of the CP grades, often used for aircraft components and
surgical hardware
- Grade 4 ELI (Extra Low Interstitials): Refined for medical applications requiring
high purity and better fracture toughness
- Standards: ASTM B348 (Bars), ASTM B265 (Plates), ASTM B338 (Tubes), ASTM F67
(Medical)
- Density: 4.51 g/cm3 (Approx. 56% the weight of steel)

Aerospace & Medical Alloys (Grade 5, 5 ELI, 23, 9)
These are "Alpha-Beta" alloys, where titanium is alloyed
with Aluminum and Vanadium to significantly increase mechanical properties.
Titanium Alloy Grades
- Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V): The most common alloy globally. It can be heat-treated for
massive strength
- Grade 5 ELI / Grade 23: The "Extra Low Interstitial" version of Grade 5. It is the
gold standard for medical implants (joint replacements) and dental applications
- Grade 9 (Ti-3Al-2.5V): Known as "Half-6-4." It offers higher strength than CP grades
but is easier to weld and form than Grade 5. It is widely used in high-end bicycle
frames and aircraft hydraulic lines

Corrosion-Enhanced Grades (Grade 7, 7 NB, 12)
These grades are specifically alloyed with small amounts
of Palladium or Nickel/Molybdenum to enhance resistance to reducing acids and
crevice corrosion.
Titanium Specialty Grades
- Grade 7: Alloyed with Palladium (0.12–0.25%). It is the most corrosion-resistant
titanium grade available
- Grade 7 NB: A cost-effective variant optimized for specific chemical environments
- Grade 12: Alloyed with Molybdenum and Nickel. It offers better strength than Grade 2
and better corrosion resistance at high temperatures and high pH levels
