Monel 400 (UNS N04400) is a solid-solution alloy that can
only be hardened by cold working. It is legendary for its resistance to rapidly
flowing seawater and its unique ability to handle hydrofluoric acid and boiling
hydrofluoric acid. It serves as the backbone of the marine and chemical processing
industries due to its excellent weldability and toughness over a wide temperature
range, from cryogenic to 1000°F.

Monel K500 (High-Strength Age-Hardenable Alloy)
Monel K500 (UNS N05500) combines the excellent corrosion
resistance of Monel 400 with the added advantages of greater strength and hardness.
By adding aluminum and titanium to the nickel-copper base, this alloy is
"age-hardened," resulting in three times the yield strength of Alloy 400. It is
non-magnetic down to -101°C, making it indispensable for electronic sensors and
non-magnetic drill collars in the oil and gas industry.

Monel R405 (The Free-Machining Grade)
Monel R405 (UNS N04405) is the free-machining version of
Monel 400. It is a nickel-copper alloy with a controlled amount of sulfur added to
provide sulfide inclusions that act as chip breakers during machining. While its
corrosion resistance is identical to Monel 400, its enhanced machinability makes it
the superior choice for high-volume production of fasteners, valve parts, and screw
machine products.
