Haynes Superalloys

High-Temperature Strength & Oxidation Resistance – Exotic Metals LLP

The Haynes portfolio is distinguished by its ability to operate at temperatures exceeding 1000°C.

Haynes High-Temperature Alloys

  • Haynes 188 (UNS R30188): A cobalt-nickel-chromium-tungsten alloy. It is the premier choice for gas turbine applications, combining excellent high-temperature strength with superior resistance to sulfidation and oxidizing environments up to 1095°C.
  • Haynes 230 (UNS N06230): A nickel-chromium-tungsten-molybdenum alloy. It offers the best balance of high-temperature strength, thermal stability, and resistance to nitridation. It is frequently used for combustion cans and transition ducts in jet engines.

Comparison: 188 vs. 230

Specialized Corrosion & Dimensional Stability

Haynes High-Temperature Alloys

  • Haynes 160 (UNS N12160): A high-silicon nickel-cobalt-chromium alloy. It provides extraordinary resistance to high-temperature corrosion, particularly in sulfidizing and chloride-bearing atmospheres. It is indispensable for waste incinerators and chemical reactors.
  • Haynes 242 (UNS N10242): An age-hardenable alloy that derives its strength from a long-range-ordering reaction. It is unique for its low thermal expansion characteristics and high ductility, making it ideal for containment rings and seal rings where dimensional control is critical.
