These are the most versatile alloys, combining good
strength, corrosion resistance, and excellent extrudability.
Aluminium 6000 Series Grades
- 6061-T6: The "workhorse" of structural aluminium. It offers a balanced mix of
weldability and strength. Ideal for bicycle frames, pipelines, and small boats
- 6082-T6 / HE30: HE30 is the British standard equivalent to 6082. It is the strongest
alloy in the 6000 series, featuring higher manganese to control grain structure. It
has largely replaced 6061 in high-stress structural applications like bridges and
cranes
- 6063-T6: Known as the "Architectural Alloy." It has a superior surface finish and
responds exceptionally well to anodizing. Used for window frames, door tracks, and
decorative trim
- 6012: A lead-containing free-machining alloy. It is specifically designed for
high-speed automatic lathes where complex parts and fine finishes are required

High-Strength & Aerospace Alloys (7000 & 2000 Series)
When strength must rival that of structural steel, we
turn to these specialized series.
High-Strength Aluminium Alloys
- 7075-T6: One of the highest strength aluminium alloys available. Primarily alloyed
with Zinc, it is the industry standard for aircraft wing strings, fuselages, and
high-end sporting goods
- Note: It has lower corrosion resistance than the 6000 series and is typically clad
or painted
- 2014-T6: A copper-based alloy known for extreme hardness. It is the second most
popular aerospace alloy after 2024, utilized for heavy-duty forgings, vehicle
frames, and aircraft structural members
Marine & Purity Grades (5000 & 1000 Series)
These grades are specifically alloyed with small amounts
of Palladium or Nickel/Molybdenum to enhance resistance to reducing acids and
crevice corrosion.
Marine & Commercial Aluminium Grades
- 5083: The premier "Marine Grade" alloy. It is non-heat-treatable but maintains
exceptional strength after welding and offers the highest resistance to attack by
seawater and industrial chemicals
- 1100 / 1200: Commercially pure aluminium (>99.0%). These are the most ductile
alloys, used for chemical equipment, fin stock for heat exchangers, and food-grade
containers where strength is secondary to purity and workability
